The SWAT Renewable Transmission Task Force (RTTF) was formed in 2007 to consider transmission needs for developing renewable resources.
Initially this task force addressed a renewable energy order which resulted from the Arizona Corporation Commission’s 2006 Biennial Transmission Assessment. California, New Mexico and Nevada already had state renewable study efforts underway.
In 2008 the RTTF planning area was increased to include the entire SWAT planning area for the primary purpose of coordinating and studying the aggregate transmission needs for renewable resource development within SWAT.
Currently a number of study groups have been formed in response to individual state renewable requirements. The SWAT RTTF also provides a forum for the coordination of these state-driven study efforts.
