The former Pricing Work Group (PWG) developed a proposed two-year Regional Transmission Service Pricing Experiment offering hourly non-firm transmission service at non-pancaked rates and submitted a Petition for Declaratory Order to FERC.

As a result of the issuance of a favorable FERC order on September 18, 2008, a number of the WestConnect members, both investor-owned and public power utilities, executed the Pricing Participation Agreement, created the Pricing Management Committee, and submitted a FERC 205 filing containing the Pricing Participation Agreement and the affiliated Regional Tariffs for participating investor-owned utilities on December 12, 2008.

FERC conditionally approved the filing on February 10, 2009 and fully accepted the subsequent compliance filings of WestConnect and the investor-owned utility participants in the Experiment on March 26, 2009.

The PrMC is continuing to develop the systems necessary to implement and analyze the outcome of the experiment. The start date of the two-year experiment was July 1, 2009.
